How to create customizable pieces

There is only one field to fill in on the product page. It is called Engraving and is located in the meta fields.

One box

Write one line:

Letter | 1 | A

That is all. A box called Letter will appear on the website, accepting 1 character and showing a grey A as an example.

Two or more boxes

Write one line per box:

Letter | 1 | A
Date | 10 | 18.02.2026

Two lines, two boxes, each with its own label and character limit.

The order is always the same

box label | maximum number of characters | example | help text

Only the label is required. Label on its own works; Label | 20 works too. Anything left out defaults to standard: the maximum becomes 10 and the text underneath automatically states how many characters fit.

The fourth column is only necessary when you want the text to say something else: Letter | 1 | A | Choose the initial.

A hyphen (-) in a column removes that part. Letter | 1 | - | - creates a box without an example or help text underneath.

If you leave the Engraving field empty, the product will not have any engraving. This is the case for most products.

When the customer chooses

In the cases above, the box is always there. If you want the customer to decide, you must create a product option, and the Engraving field should be left empty.

Choose whether you want engraving: an option called exactly Personalization, with the values With engraving and Without engraving.

The Name field on a product with a single engraving

Choose how many engravings: an option called exactly Number of plates (engraving), with the values 1, 2, 3, and as many as you need. The boxes appear and disappear depending on the selection.

The engraving boxes corresponding to the selected quantity

The option labels must be exactly as specified. To avoid mistakes, two example products have already been created: Example of a product with a single engraving and Example of a product with engraving. Open one and click Duplicate.

Be careful when pasting text

If you copy a description from another program, it sometimes includes hidden code that disrupts the page's tables and colors. Paste using Ctrl+Shift+V (Cmd+Shift+V on Mac), which pastes only the text.

Whatever the customer writes in the boxes will be included in the order, with the label of each field next to it.
